These Are a Few of my Favourite Things...

Hello! Welcome to my first "Favorite Things" Post.

I started quilting in 1997 (20 years ago!) but I didn't really know the world of designer fabric lines until I bought one of my all time favorite quilting books "Simplify" by Camille Roskelley. This book changed how I saw fabric and I began learning all I could about "lines" (or "ranges" as they call them overseas) and the designers behind them.

It was in "Simplify" that I learned about one of my most favorite lines "Bliss" by Bonnie & Camille for Moda. By the time I had the book it was already hard to find this line but I did manage to get two charm packs of it and made this quilt with them.

Kindle Version:

A couple of years later Camille Roskelley came out with another book called "Simply Retro" and that is another favorite of mine. The quilts are beautiful and achievable.

I have made a few quilts from "Simply Retro" including the "Swell" quilt which I made with the Ruby fabric line for a dear friend who suffers from osteoarthritis.

There are still several quilts in this book that are on my quilty bucket list.

Since the very beginning of my quilting life I have used Olfa cutting mats and Rotary cutters and have never strayed from this brand. They have never let me down. The new Splash cutter is now my favorite because I love the color.

And I currently use a 24 x 36" Olfa Gridded Cutting Mat  which is fantastic. I don't have to move the fabric as often when cutting strips from yardage.

Of course, it would be impossible to sew without thread. In keeping with my adoration of all things Camille Roskelley I bought this thread set 2 years ago and I still haven't run out. You get A LOT of thread in one of these amazing Aurifil thread  collections. (And this price below is less than I paid two years ago!)

My all time favorite sewing pins are Little House pins. They are so sharp and fine they can get through several layers when pinning seams and the glass heads mean they won't melt if you accidentally leave one in and iron of it by mistake. I can't find them on Amazon but I know Fat Quarter Shop stocks them.

In the fabric department I love Kona precuts. You can get a lot of colors into your stash quickly and affordably with Kona precuts. I made my "Gasoline Rainbow" mini quilt for the IG mini swap with Kona charm packs.

Three favorite things in one photo! :)

I made my "Cushion Cut" quilt (designed by Nightingale Quilts) with Kona Precut Fat Quarters and a Jelly Roll. This quilt was auctioned at my kids' school as a fundraiser.
