My Jumping Framed Squares Quilt Pattern is out in Make Modern Magazine

Daydreams of Quilts has a new pattern out in issue 10 of Make Modern Magazine. This quilt is called "Jumping Framed Squares" because the squares jump up and down across the rows. The squares are in rainbow order in the rows but they also form interesting colour patterns on the vertical and diagonal of the quilt.

Jumping Framed Squares Quilt designed and quilted by Anita LaHay of Daydreams of Quilts.

This is a bed sized quilt at about 80 x 100 inches so it has a nice drop on the bed and can also be tucked with the pillows if you make your bed in that style. It is easy to add or delete rows to change the size.

I quilted it with wavy feathers in the vertical columns and meandering stipple stitches around the rainbow coloured squares.

I wanted to make this quilt to showcase my long treasured Heather Ross "Briar Rose" prints that I have been hoarding since they came out. Finally I loved them so much that I wanted to see them everyday instead of having them folded on my shelves. Now they are on my bed for me to enjoy. My eye jumps around the quilt to each frame looking for the next cute creature.

This quilt is great for showcasing fussy cuts of your favorite prints.

It took my son on a ladder and my husband to hold up the quilt for me and it's hanging off the deck to keep it off the ground. This is the largest quilt I have ever made and quilted.
Thank you so much for stopping by to see my quilt today. There are so many amazing quilters in issue 10. I am very humbled to be among them. I hope you will get a chance to check out this issue of Make Modern.
