Marsala Colour of the Year Swap

This is the other swap I sent out last week. If you are Cherie in Australia look away now... unless you would like a sneak peek at your package that is winging it's way to you as I type. xo (We are not secret partners in this swap.)

Okay, so here it is! Cherie asked for a sewing wallet and a pin cushion. I was in the process of designing one based on a pin she had on her Pinterest board when, as luck would have it, my Issue 17 of "Love Patchwork and Quilting" arrived and the free gift was a little pattern book of English Paper Piecing (EPP) projects designed by Jessie Fincham. The sewing wallet was on the cover! How perfect was that!?

A sewing wallet designed by Jessie Fincham and Cathedral Windows pin cushions made by Anita LaHay of Daydreams of Quilts for Cherie of Cherie Bobbins. The diamonds on the cover of the wallet are EPP diamonds that I machine appliqued down.
The theme of the swap is the Pantone Colour of the Year - Marsala. I ordered this "Hand Sprayed" fabric by RJR Fabrics especially for the swap. The swap items must feature this colour predominantly.

The tutorial for the Cathedral Windows Pin Cushion is on Go Go Kim's blog here. I used some vintage abalone shell buttons on the pin cushions. I would have stuffed them with crushed walnut shells but because they are going international I stuffed them with polyfil.

Here is the inside of the sewing wallet. I stuffed it with fat quarters and left over fabrics from the project (there are some in the right side pocket too). Other than the Hand Spray fabric all the fabrics are "Wild and Free" by Maureen Cracknell for Art Gallery Fabrics. The scissor holder is all hand pieced EPP diamonds. The pattern book came with the diamond papers. This is the smallest EPP I have ever sewn thus far.

I hope she loves it! I can't wait for it to get to her.

I am linking up with the 2015 Finish Along. This project was #10 on my Q1 Goals List.
